ELLIOT GROVES HELPS OKLAHOMA CITY WIN ANOTHER TITLE IN HIS LAST EVENT


Elliot Groves from Winchester, a senior year student, finished 16th in his last golf tournament for Oklahoma City University and helped them win their eighth NAIA title at Creekside Golf Club, Salem in the state of Oregon.
They finished three shots ahead of their great state rivals, Oklahoma Christian with British Columbia third in a field of 29 teams.
Groves, pictured, produced his third best performance of the 2011-2012 college golf season with rounds of 78-73-74-74 for a nine-over-par total of 297 over a 6,887yd par-72 course.
He was the highest finishing British player in the field.
Anglo-Scot Alasdair Dalgleish (Oklahoma Christian) finished T23 on 299 with scores of 79-71-75-74.
Jack Bingham (South Carolina-Beaufort) from Stockport finished T44 on 303 (81-75-75-72).
Jack Hiscock (Bethany College, Kansas) from Swindon also finished on 303 with scores of 77-77-74-75.
Londoner Yousaf Khan (Grand View) was a third English player on this mark with scores of 79 73 78 73.
Among those who missed the cut after three rounds (226 or better qualified) was Andrew Abercrombie (Southern Nazarene), a senor year student from Glasgow. He had rounds of 82-80-80 for 242.
