HELEN (DOBSON) HEWLETT KOs JESS WILCOX IN LINCOLNSHIRE FINAL THRILLER
Helen Hewlett, who as Helen Dobson was a Curtis Cup player and British amateur champion, today won the Lincolnshire women's county championship at Holme Hall.
The Seacroft player beat Jess Wilcox (Blankney) at the 20th in the final after Jess was four up on the 12th tee.
The semi-finals were exciting with Helen beating Holly Clyburn's younger sister India (Woodhall Spa) at the 19th, and Jess beating Emilee Taylor (Holme Hall) also at the 19th.

The final was played in wet and windy conditions with Jess playing some wonderful approach shots to go four up after eight holes.
Helen gradually began to find her range and the match was all square after 18.
A birdie from Helen on the 20th secured the match and the Championship. The referee informed us that Helen had shot two under and Jess one under in a thoroughly sporting and exciting match. Well done to all 16 qualifiers. and see you at Blankney in 2013

The qtr finalists were Helen Hewlett, Michelle Willerton, Emily Slater, India Clyburn, Emilee Taylor, Sophie Beardsall, Hannah Edmonds and Jess Wilcox.

Wednesday and Thursday
Helen Hewlett (Seacroft) had set the standard when she led the qualifying 36 holes with a 140 gross. She shot 70 in the morning and followed it up with another 70 in the afternoon, despite the freshening conditions.
