LOUISA BRUNT (13) HEADING FOR ENGLAND'S GRAND MEDAL FINAL
NEWS RELEASE
Ashton-Under-Lyne Golf Club’s Louisa Brunt, aged 13, returned a six-under par net score of 67 at York Golf Club to win the North Regional qualifiers for England Golf’s 2012 Grand Medal Final which is to be held later this year at Worcester Golf Club. The North Regional final was contested by over 110 women golfers from right across the North of England, representing golf clubs including; Royal Birkdale, Harrogate and the City of Newcastle Golf Clubs.
Louisa’s round included a run of 11 holes consisting of 10 pars and a birdie. Louisa commented “This has been a fantastic day for me. Being able to represent my golf club gave me all the drive and determination I needed.
This has also been a great result for Lancashire Ladies Golf Association’s Junior Girls Section with three of its junior girls finishing in the top 20
Louisa had her first official handicap of 36 just over two years ago, winning this event will now hopefully see her handicap fall to single figures for the first time.
She receives coaching at both county and national level as well as with Scott Connor, her local coach from Manchester Golf Club.
Louisa added “Doing so well in events like this make all the practice worthwhile, I receive tremendous support from everyone I know – this has been an incredible start to my season.”
