PAMELA PRETSWELL MOVES UP INTO SHARE OF SECOND PLACE IN KIEV
Pamela Pretswell (Bothwell Castle), a winner over a field or professionals in Sweden last week, has moved up to joint second place in the Golf Stream Women's Open at Kiev Golf Club in the Ukraine.
The Curtis Cup amateur shot the joint best round of the day, a four-under-par 68, a nine-shot improvement on her first-round effort, for a 36-hole tally of 145.
Overnight leader Viva Schlasberg (Sweden) fell back with a 75 for 146.
Belgium's Benedicte Toumpsin matched Pretswell's 68 and leads the field by four strokes with a three-under-par 141 tally.
Pamela covered her first nine holes in three-under-par 33 with birdies at the third, sixth and eighth. She got to four under par with a 2 at the short 12th but dropped a shot at the 14th - her only bogey - and finished on a high with a birdie at the long 18th.
Pamela Feggans from Patna, Ayrshire is seventh on 149 after a 74 which included a double bogey 6 at the 14th, after birdieing the 11th and 13th.
There are three Scots in the top 10 with Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll joint eighth on 150 despite a double bogey 7 and a double bogey 6 at the first and fifth holes in an outward half of 42.
She bogeyed the third, eighth, ninth and 13th and had birdies at the seventh and 14th in halves of 42-36 for 150 and a share of eighth place.
Gemma Webster from Glasgow is joint 14th on 153 after a 76.
Gleneagles' Heather MacRae made the cut on 159 (80-79) with not a shot to spare. In fact she had to cover her last two holes in one under par to make it through to the final day. She had got off to a dreadful start with double bogeys at the first and third but birdied the short 17th and parred the last under pressure to gain pass marks.
