SCOTS IN TOP 10 AT WELSH WOMEN'S OPEN AMATEUR STROKE-PLAY

Former Scottish champion Megan Briggs (Kilmacolm), new Renfrewshire county title-holder Alyson McKechin (Elderslie) and Clara Young (North Berwick) were all on the four-over-par 78 mark at the end of the first round in the 72-hole Welsh women's open amateur stroke-play championship at Ashburnham Golf Club on the South Wales coastline.
Emily Taylor (Royal Lytham) was the leader after a one-under 73.
Carnoustie's Jessie Meek was joint 13th on 78 - the same score as last week's Helen Holm Scottish stroke-play winner Amy Boulden (Conwy).
Laura Murray (Alford), who finished joint third in the "Helen Holm," and Rachel Walker (Dumfries&County) were sharing 16th place on 79.
