MIDLOTHIAN FIGHTBACK TO BEAT FIFE AFTER LOSING FOURSOMES 3-0
Scottish and divisional champions Midlothian took a big step towards retaining the East title when they beat the other Day 1 winners, Fife, 5 1/2-3 1/2 at Turnhouse GC today. It had looked the end of Midlothian's reign when the lost the morning foursomes 3-0 but they returned to form to win the singles 5 1/2-1/2. Winners for Midlothian were internationals Jane Turner and Rachael Wattson, Karen Marshall, Wendy Nicholson and Louise Fraser. Hannah Scott got their half-point. In the other tie between the Monday losers, East Lothian beat Stirling and Clackmannan 5 1/2-3 1/2 The winners of the East title will go forward to the Scottish county finals against the three other divisional champions at Montrose Links in September.
