A RAINY DAY AT CARNOUSTIE FOR BRITISH CH'SHIP 2ND Q ROUND
The picture, by Cal Carson Golf Agency, that tells the story at Carnoustie this morning for the second qualifying round of the British women's open amateur championship - Ladies Golf Union president Jll Edwards who will be on the first tee from 6.30am until 3.16 this afternnon.
The LGU president traditionally acts as starter at this and all the major LGU events.
The weather forecast is that the rain - although no wind - is forecast to stay at the Angus venue for several days.
The CSS for the first qualifying round was 79, the same as the Standard Scratch - seven about the ladies par for the championship course laid out by the LGU for this event.
A total of 68 players broke 80 in the first round.
Impossible to predict the qualifying limit for the 64 players who will progress after today's second round to the match-play stages, beginning on Thursday and continuing to the 18 hole final on Saturday afternoon.
Perhaps the equivalent of two 79s - 158? Who knows?
Celine Boutier (France) and Giulia Molinaro (Italy) lead the field on two-under-par 70 going into the second round.
