SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD IN NCAA DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONSHIP

Tennessee-Chattanooga University's pair of Scottish students, sophomore Chris Robb from Banchory and freshman Liam Johnston from Dumfries finished T69 and T114 respectively in a field of 156 top quality US college golfers at the NCAA Division 1 men's championships at the Riviera Country Club, Los Angeles.
Robb shot 76-72-75 for 223 against a tough par of 71 (course well over7,000yd long) while Johnston had scores of 71, 80 and 77.
Ireland's Kevin Phelan (North Florida) from Waterford finished highest of the British and Irish competitors with scores of 72, 71 and 73 for T21 on 216.
Tom Berry (San Diego State) from Surrey shot 73-73-71 for T29 on 217.
Paul Dunne (Alabama-Birmingham) from Greystones, Ireland totalled 224 with scores of 75-74-74 for T77.
Thomas Pieters (Illinois) had the lowest 54-hole aggregate of 208 (69-66-71) ahead of Julie Brun (Texas Christian) (72-72-67) and Tyle McCumber (Florida) (66-71-72) tied second on 211.
Alabama leads the team title chase as it moves into the match-play stages.
