EWEN FERGUSON HANGS ON IN THERE IN MCGREGOR TROPHY

Ewen Ferguson (Bearsden) is hanging on in there at the halfway stage of the English Under-16 boys' stroke-play championship for the McGregor Trophy at Trevose GC.
While overnight leader David Brady from Ireland dropped like a stone with an 85 (14 shots worse than his first score), Ferguson battled for a 74 and 146, which sees him in joint third place, only a shot behind the joint leaders, Haydn McCulloch (Delamere Forest) (73-72) and Jake Storey (Alnmouth) (73-72),
Other Scots to make the cut were Blair Gavin (Kilmarnock Barassie, joint 10th on 151 (76-75), Cameron Kirkwood (77-75) and Lewis Bain (Musselburgh) (76-76) joint 18th on 152, Ben Kinsley (St Andrews New), joint 20th on 153 (77-76) and George Burns (Williamwood), joint 35th on 155 (79-76).
The seven other Scots were eliminated.
