FROM THE GOLFWEEK WEBSITE

Rico Hoey of Rancho Cucamonga, California narrowly won the Callaway Junior World Championship on Friday, edging runner-up Beau Hossler by a single stroke.
Hoey birdied the 18th hole at Torrey Pines South for a final-round 69. That left him with a 54-hole total of 2-under 286. Hossler, who opened the week with 68, closed with three consecutive rounds of 73 to finish at 287. He bogeyed the 17th on Friday and parred the 18th.
Hossler played the event not quite a month after finishing T-29 at the U.S. Open. It’s the second time he’s played in the national championship.
Aaron Wise was another shot behind Hossler at even-par 288. Matt Williams was solo fourth with 294 and John Oda was fifth with 295.
In the top girls’ division, played at Torrey Pines North, Benyapa Niphatsophon of Thailand shot 8-under 280 to easily win the title. Runner-up Su-Hyun Oh of Australia was the next closest pursuer at 1-under 287.
Two players finished tied for third at even par: Hannah Kim of Chula Vista, Calif., and Eimi Koga of Honolulu.
