NEWS RELEASE FROM THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION
Defending champion Sheena McElroy put up a gallant defence of her title and a 3 in a row record but Doran who has been knocking at the door maintained her composure in an edgy match to win with a par on the 18th while McElroy found the water left of the home green.   
Doran earns a semi final berth tomorrow morning against Helen Jones (Strabane).  In a nip and tuck match, Jones went 1up against Catherine Reilly (The Heath) on the par three 17th and secured the win with a par on the last. 
In the bottom half of the draw, Violet McBride (Belvoir Park) had a comfortable win against Kate Evans who had been taken to the 20th hole by Pamela Morgan (Lahinch) in the last 16 this morning. McBride will face Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) who was one down against Gertie MacMullen (The Island) playing the eighteenth but went on to win with a par on 18 and birdie at the first tie hole.
