Aberdeenshire women's Lyon Foursomes inter-club match-play tournament began yesterday (Monday) at Newmachar and will finish at Newburgh today (Tuesday).
That's because the Hawkshill course was hit by a flash flood in the late afternoon and will be closed for at least another day.
Newburgh's club management quickly agreed to a request from the Shire officials to stage the remainder of the two-day tournament.
Technically, none of the quarter-finals out on the course when play was abandoned was finished but when the players got back to the clubhouse and assessed the situation in the double foursomes matches there were three concessions.
The only quarter-final which will resume at Newburgh at 9am is Aberdeen Ladies v Peterculter. There are six or seven holes to play in both ties and Aberdeen Ladies have a two-hole overall lead.
Murcar Links 1, who had a commanding overall lead, were conceded victory in their quarter-final by Inchmarlo
In the semi-finals, Murcar Links will play Deeside who were conceded their match by Ballater.
Aboyne 2 conceded their quarter-final to Cruden Bay, the holders, who will play the winners of the Peterculter v Aberdeen Ladies 1 tie as soon as possible this morning to allow the final to remain on schedule for the afternoon programme.
