NEWS RELEASE FROM THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION

Helen Jones (Strabane) played level par golf to complete a clean sweep of Irish Senior women's amateur titles, winning the Close final against Violet McBride (Belvoir Park) 4 and 2 on a glorious warm sunny day at Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club.  This adds to Helen’s Irish Senior Open title which she won 2010.

In the morning semi-finals, Jones, pictured above by Cal Carson Golf Agency, snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. She was two down on the 17th tee against Donabate's Pat Doran but won both the 17th and 18th with pars. She completed her escape by winning the 21st.

The other semi final was also all square after 18 with Violet McBride securing her berth in the final at the first extra hole.
