R AND A JUNIOR OPEN FOCUS ON GABRIELLA COWLEY AND CLARA YOUNG

GABRIELLA COWLEY (West Essex), playing the first hole at Fairhaven GC, Lytham St Annes in the RandA Junior Open second round at 8am this morning. Proof that Colin Farquharson can get up early! Gabriella is the leading British player on 74 after the first round, at the end of which Japan's Asuka Kashiwabara leads with an astonishing round of eight-under-par 66.
Gabriella returned a 72 today for 76 to be the clubhouse leader. The leading 80 and ties at the conclusion of today's second round go forward to Wednesday's final round.
By the way, it's been raining already this morning at Fairhaven! Quote from visitor from Australia - who have no representatives in the field
"It's better weather in mid-winter in Adelaide than it is here in mid-summer."
CLARA YOUNG (North Berwick), one of the two Scotland representatives in the RandA Junior Open. Pictured on the first tee at 9.10am this morning. Clara, a Junior Vagliano Trophy player for GB and I, was out in the worst of the rain yesterday and had an 83. Today Clara managed to get back to the clubhouse before the rain set in for the afternoon and she was able to improve by seven shots for a 76 and a total of 159, which will see her in action again on the final day.
