SCOTS DISAPPOINT WITH EUROPEAN YOUNG MASTERS' FINISH
Scotland's two boys and two girls finished a disappointing joint 14th as a team in the European Young Masters Under-16s golf tournament at
Royal Balaton Golf and Yacht Club, Hungary today.
The Scots totalled 697 - 52 shots behind behind the runaway winners, Italy (645) who had 19 shots to spare over runners-up Spain.
England (668) tied for fourth place with Germany.
Ireland (691) finished 13th. Wales (700) finished behind Scotland.
Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie) tied for 14th place in the boys' section with a three-round total of eight-over 224, made up of rounds of 78, 70 and 76.
George Burns (Williamwood) finished well down the boys' field with scores of 79, 82 and 78 for 239.
Scottish girls champion Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) totalled 234 (80-77-77), finishing 13 shots behind the girls' section winner, Covadonga Sanuvan (Spain) who scored 74-73-74 for 221 and a three-shot win from Slovenia's Ana Belac.
Clara Young (North Berwick) finished 46th with scores of 88, 88 and 84 for 260.
