SCOTS DOWN THE FIELD ON OPENING DAY OF EUROPEAN YOUNG MASTERS
Scotland finished the opening day of the European Young Masters tournament in joint 21st place in a field of 26 teams at Royal Balaton Golf Club, Hungary.
Bradley Neil (Blairgowrie) shot a six-over-par 78 whiched included two 7s, one of them at a par-4 hole.
George Burns (Williamwood) returned a 79, thanks to late birdies at the 11th, 13th and 16th after a triple and double bogeys earlier in his round.
New Scottish U18 girls champion Lauren Whyte (St Regulus) had a birdie-less 80 while Clara Young (North Berwick) had an 88 which included a 9 at a par-4 hole and three double bogeys at short holes.
Italy lead on 214 from Belgium on 216. Scotland are on 237.
