DOUBLE SUCCESS FOR LOTHIANS BOYS OVER ANGUS

Angus boys' convener
The
annual under-16s match between Angus and the Lothians resulted in a
convincing 7-2 win for a very strong Lothians team at Piperdam.
Most of the Angus boys, making the transition to the next age
group for the first time, recieved a lesson in the standard requird at this level.
Results in the Under-16s match:
FOURSOMES(Angus names first)
Gavin Petrie (Forfar) and Marc Howie (Ballumbie) bt Callum Cochrane (Dalmahoy) and Aaron McManus (Tantallon) 2 holes
John McKenna (Downfield) and Mac Duncan (Monifieth) lost to Calum Wilson (Kilspindie) and Marc Napier (Dundas Park) 5 and 4
Jamie Beedie and Findlay Soutar (both Montrose) lost to Murray Naysmith(Dalmahoy) and Leigh Lawson (Turnhouse) 3 and 2
SINGLES
Petrie
lost to Cochrane 2 and 1
Howie lost to Naysmith 5 and 4
McKenna lost to McManus 5 and 3
Duncan lost to Napier 4 and 3
Soutar bt Wilson 2 holes.
Beedie lost to Lawson 4 and 3
The
annual under 14s match between the areas ended in the same 7-2 result in favour of Lothians at
Swanston New. However, for all the Angus boys
involved, this was their first ever county match. All the boys played
their heart out but a special mention has to go to 11 year old Ewan
Wheat (barely 4' 6") very impressivly taking Angus's only singles point
against a giant opponent in Callum Russell.
With two other boys going to
the last putt of their matches on the 18th, they were all upbeat about
the return fixture next year

Harry George (Downfield) and Ewan Wheat (Montrose) lost to Cameron Blair (Musselburgh) and Callum Russell 3 and 2
Charlie Walls (Monifieth) and Campbell Gibson (Downfield) lost to David Rudd (Longniddry) and Scott Young (Tantallon) 7 and 6.
SINGLES
Smith lost to Higgins 5 and 4
Grant lost to Blair 4 and 2
George lost to Thomson 1 hole
Wheat bt Russell 2 holes
Walls lost to Rudd 1 hole
Gibson lost to Young 7 and 5.
