ENNISCORTHY KO DEFENDINGCHAMPIONS AT GRANGE

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE IRISH LADIES GOLF UNION

 

Defending Champions Douglas fell to an inspired Enniscorthy in the third quarter final of the 2012 Irish Senior Cup at Grange, Friday 17 August. With the tie evenly balanced at two matches apiece, Nicola King birdied the par 5 seventeenth to defeat Kate MacCann and edge Enniscorthy into a semi final tie with favourites Royal Portrush who defeated a luckless Muskerry 4-1.

2009 Champions Kilkenny defeated Roscommon 4½-½ to advance to the second semi final as the Mid Leinster Champions were much too strong for the Connacht runners-up. The Cats won the top three singles and the final match with the fourth match called in. Kilkenny now face Leinster Champions The Island who defeated Connacht Champions Portumna by 3 matches to 2 in a much tighter contest.
