YORKSHIRE BOYS FAVOURITES AT COTSWOLD HILLS

NEWS RELEASE FROM ENGLAND GOLF
Yorkshire will arguably start favourites to win its seventh title when the English Boys County Finals get underway at Cotswold Hills in Gloucestershire from Tuesday to Thursday this week (August 28-30) 
Despite the absence of Matthew Fitzpatrick, the newly-crowned British Boys champion, who has been selected for the GB&I team to play the Continent of Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy in Ireland, the northern winners will still field a powerful line-up.
Yorkshire will take on the other regional winners, Hampshire, Devon, and Staffordshire in the annual round robin tournament.
While Fitzpatrick is absent, the northern winners include two England boy caps in Joe Dean and Nick Marsh (image of Nick Marsh © Tom Ward) along with Daniel Brown, the new Yorkshire champion.
Yorkshire has lifted the championship five times and shared it with Essex in 2004, so they will be looking to claim a seventh success.
The other three counties will be hoping to win the championship for the first time. But both Hampshire and Staffordshire will be handicapped by the absence of some of their leading players.
HAMPSHIRE ABSENTEES
Harry Ellis, the new English champion, and Jordan Ainley are missing from the Hampshire team, the South East winners, as he is also in the GB and I team for the Jacques Leglise Trophy, while Ainley has been ruled out through injury.  
However, the Hampshire team includes Jack Singh Brar, an under 16 international and the county’s under 16 champion.
Staffordshire, the Midlands winners, field Harrison Long, the boys’ champion, his brother Cameron, and Richard Mansell, the match play champion. But the team is missing the services of Robert Burlison, away representing England Golf in the United States, while two others have left for colleges in America.
Devon, also seeking its first success in the championship, include Jacob Tinsley (East Devon), the county’s under 16 champion, and the boys’ champion Anthony McGeorge.
In the draw for the first round of matches on Tuesday 28th, Devon will play Staffordshire while Hampshire meet Yorkshire.
