SCOTS VETS LOSE AGAIN AT THE HIRSEL
Scotland's hopes of winning the title in the Veteran women's golf jamboree at The Hirsel GC disappeared with a second defeat in a row. They were beaten 6-3 by England South after a first-day 5-4 defeat by England North. The Scots trailed by 2pt after the morning foursomes and never looked like making up the deficit in the singles. England North beat England Midlands 6-3 in the day's other match. Results: ENGLAND SOUTH 6, SCOTLAND 3 Foursomes - C Weir and D Richards bt M Smith and A Bartlett 3 and 1; C Quinn and J O'Keefe halved with H Anderson and L Urquhart; I Brien and C Armstrong bt F De Vries and A Glennie 4 and 2 (2 1/2-1/2). Singles - Quinn bt L Bennett 5 and 4, L Housman bt Smith 2 and 1, Richards lost to Bartlett 3 and 2, Brien lost to De Vries 5 and 4, K Russell bt J Paterson 3 and 1, Weir halved with Anderson (3 1/2-2 1/2).
