THREE SCOTS IN DANISH TOP SIX

Three Scots finished in the top six of the Samso Open women's professional golf tournament in Denmark on Saturday.
Pamela Feggans from Patna, Ayrshire and Hamilton's Pamela Pretswell earned 1,607 Euros each for sharing third place on 215 while Carnoustie's Katy McNicoll finished joint sixth on 216 and earned 927 Euros.
Feggans had ever-improving rounds of 77, 70 and 68, birdieing the first, fifth, seventh, long 10th and short 11th in her final round before her only bogey, at the 13th.
Feggans had a double bogey 7 at the 18th in her first round and a double bogey 5 at the short eighth in her second but still finished only two shots behind the winner, Sweden's Antonella Cvitan (70-73-70 for 213) who beat Danish amateur Nicole Broch Larsen (Denmark) (70-70-73) in a play-off for the title.
Pretswell shot 72-72-71 to maintain second place in the LETAS Order of Merit. The top three at the end of the season will earn places on the 2013 Ladies European Tour.
McNicoll, the joint first round leader, finished with scores of 69, 74 and 74 for 216 and earned 927 Euros

+EDITOR'S NOTE: One of my ambitions is to set up a mini-Tartan Tour for female professionals and low-handicap amateurs who want to see if they are good enough to turn pro. One of the reasons I have failed so far is that potential sponsors say there are not enough good female pros in Scotland.
Doesn't Saturday's result in Denmark suggest otherwise?
It's also a Catch 22 situation. Until we have a small domestic tour for lady pros and amateurs who want to step up the ladder, lack of competititive opportunities will hold back their rate of improvement.
If you know of any potential sponsors for a mini-tour of say one event a month, 18 or 36 holes in one day to start with, with modest prize money (£5,000 to £7,500) per event (which is more than the WPGA girls play for!) E-mail me at Colin@scottishgolfview.com
