ANGUS BEAT RENFREWSHIRE AT MONTROSE

A young Angus team, average age 21, upset the predictions that Renfrewshire would be defending champions Midlothian's main opponents in the Scottish women's county golf championship final at Montrose today.
While Midlothian were having the anticipated easy win by 7 1/2-1 1/2 over Dumfries-shire, Angus were beating Renfrewshire 5-4 in a thriller of a contest that could have gone either way.
Angus's one-point lead from the morning foursomes proved crucial as the singles were shared three wins apiece.
Double winners for the host county were Anne Ramsay (Kirriemuir) and Heather Munro (Monifieith).
Midlothian had two players who finished on the winning side in the foursomes and singles - Gabrielle MacDonald and Jane Turner.
In Saturday's matches, Midlothian play Renfrewshire and Angus meet Dumfries-shire.
