CONNOR SYME WINS PAUL LAWRIE JUNIOR JUG BY SEVEN SHOTS


Scottish schoolboys champion Connor Syme, son of the Dumfries and County Golf Club professional Stuart Syme, was a runaway winner of the Paul Lawrie Foundation Junior Jug over three rounds at Elgin Golf Club.
Syme, pictured, compiled rounds of 67, 69 and 70 over the par-69 parkland course for a 54-hole total of one-under-par 206,
The CSS was 72, 71 and 71.
He won by seven strokes from David Wilson (Troon Welbeck), the 2011 Scottish boys' match-play champion, who scored 72, 69 and 72 for 213.
Wilson finished a further four shots clear of Greg Forrester (Lundin) and Ray Gordon (Alford) who finished joint third on 217.
Hunter House, who plays off eight at Royal Aberdeen, won the handicap section with nett scores of 69, 69 and 68 for a total of 206, two strokes ahead of Ray Gordon (Alford) (3) with Ross Powell (Deeside) (7) finishing in third place in the handicap section, a further three shots back.
+The previous weekend Connor Syme teamed with Dumfries and County clubmate Rachel Walker to win the Scottish mixed foursomes title.
