Aberdeen-born Gemma Dryburgh has scored her first win as a Tulane University, New Orleans student. The Scotland girl international, pictured, starting her second year at Tulane, had rounds of 69, 70 and 69 for an eight-under-par total of 208 to finish two shots clear of a field of 62 players in the Old Waverly Intercollegiate at Spartanburg Country Club, South Carolina. Her 54-hole aggregate is a Tulane University record.
Tulane finished in second place behind Kentucky - beaten by only two shots - in the team event. Ironically, if Tulane's Finnish freshman (who hadn't qualified but was playing as an individual), been in the team they would have won easily.
Gemma not only rewrote the Tulane 54 hole scoring record she beat two of the 2012 USA Curtis Cup team, by 9 shots in one case and 11 shots in another.
As her dad, Aberdeen oil executive John Dryburgh says: "An excellent performance by Gemma and a perfect start to her college season."
