JAMES BOLTON OFF TO A GOOD START AT NEWMAN UNIVERSITY

James Bolton from Bury, a freshman student at Newman University, Wichita in Kansas, has made a very good start to his college golf career in America.
He was the top scoring Newman player in his debut and he finished second in a Newman 1-2 at their next competition, the NSU Classic at Emeral Falls GC, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
James scored 70-73 for one-under-par 143 over a longish course of 6,935yd.
The only player to finish ahead of him in  field of 104 players was Newman team-mate Myles Miller who shot 71-70 to finish two ahead on 141.
Despite Newman filling the top two places individually, they did not manage to win the team title. In fact, Newman (597)finished third behind Southwest Oklahoma State (589) and Washington (594).
The reason for this is that Miller and Bolton were the only Newman players to figure in the top 20 final totals. Obviously Newman are lacking a bit of strength in depth at the moment.
James Hornsby from Liverpool, another English freshman at Newman University, finished T92 on 170 with scores of 86 and 84.

Mark Geddes jt 2nd at Bellingham

Mark Geddes from Cheshire, a student at Grand Canyon University, Arizona, finished joint second in a field of 63 players at the WWU Invitational at Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Bellingham, Washington State.
Geddes scored 70, 71 and 69 for a total of 210, six under par for a 6,561yd course.
He finished a shot behind the winner, Mark Strickland (Western Washington) who shot 67, 73 and 69 for 209.
Grand Canyon (878) finished fourth in the team event behind Western Washington (848) in a field of 12 teams.

Steph Peareth jt 2nd in West Virginia

Steph Peareth from the North-east of England is now playing for Concord University, West Virginia on the US women's college golf circuit.
She has transferred to Concord after two years at Pfeiffer University.
Steph finished joint second with a round of 76 in the one-round WVIAC Quad competition at Croft Country Club, Clarksburg in West Virginia.
Concord team-mate Marina Erice won the individual honours with a score of 75, five over par for a 5,800yd course. Must have been a bad-weather day.
