LIAM JOHNSTON JUST OUTSIDE TOP TEN IN US COLLEGE SEASON OPENER
Liam Johnston from Dumfries and Chris Robb from Banchory - both students at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga finished joint 11th and joint 23rd respectively in a field of 78 players for their first tournament of the 2012-2013 US college golf season - the Carpet Capital Collegiate at The Farm Golf Club, Rocky Face, Georgia at the weekend.
Over a par 72 course of 7,012yd, Johnston shot 70-70-74 for 214 and Robb had rounds of 76-70-74 for 220.
Winner was Brandon Stone (Texas) with scores of 69-63-72 for 12-under-par 204 - two shots ahead of joint runners-up T J Michell (Georgia) (65-68-73) and Jordan Spieth (Texas) (70-66-70)
Texas (851) won the team title ahead of Georgia (856) with Alabama (865) third. Chattanooga (875) tied for seventh place in a field of 15 teams.
