OXFORDSHIRE'S ABI LAKER WINS BY EIGHT IN UNITED STATES

It’s been a great few days for the United Sports USA girl golfers that went over to American colleges in August.
Following Meghan MacLaren's debut success, Abigail (Abi) Laker, from Burford Golf Club, Oxfordshire, a freshman student at Arkansas State University has won the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational hosted by Kansas University.
It was Abi's second US college competition - she finished ninth on her debut - and she must have played brilliantly to beat a good-class field by eight strokes with a three-under-par total of 213.
A former pupil of the Henry Box School, Abi had a great record in junior golf.
She had rounds of 74, 69 and 70 over a 6,284yd par-72 course at Alvarmar Golf Club, Lawrence in Kansas.
Runner on 221 was Thailander Thanuttra Boonraksasat (Kansas) with scores of 77 72 72.
US Curtis Cup player Amy Anderson (North Dakota State) finished nine shots behind Abi Laker in joint third place on 222 (75-72-75).
Welsh cap Anna Carling (Arkansas State), pictured left, finished T35 in a field of 74 players. She had a total of 241, made up of rounds of 82, 80 and 79.

Kansas (906) won the team title agahead of Arksansas Strate (927) with Kansas State (928) third in a field of 13 teams.

TIFFANY HEWETSON jt 13th IN GRAND CANYON INVITATIONAL
Tiffany Hewetson (pictured right) from Brighton, a student at Grand Canyon University, Arizona, finished T13 in a field of 83 players at the Grand Canyon Women's Fall Invitational at The Wigwam Resort, Litchfield Park.
Over a par-72 course of 6,200 yd Spaniard Anna Arrese (Oklahoma Christian) and Charlotte Jaengkit (Grand Canyon) tied for first place on 142. Anna scored 70-72, Charlotte 74-68.
Tiffany Heweston had rounds of 73-79 for 152.
Grand Canyon (603) won the team title from CSU-San Marcos and OK Christian (both 608) at the head of a field of 15 teams.
DOLORES MAKES DEBUT FOR McNEESE STATE
Dolores Brown from Royal Cinque Ports GC in Deal, Ken is now in her freshman year at McNeese State University.
Dolores (pictured right), qualified to play in McNeese's first tournament of the 2012-2013 year - there are 12 players on its women's golf roster - and the team did pretty well
overall, compared to previous performances over the last few years.

MONROE-- McNeese State's women's golf team finished third at the Louisiana-Monroe Fred Marx Invitational here Tuesday after final round 306. McNeese ended the tournament with a 899, five shots out of first place and one shot behind second place Sam Houston State (898). The Cowgirls entered the final round in a tie for first with Southern Miss following two rounds of play Monday. Southern Miss held on to the lead and won the event with a tournament score of 894. The Lady Eagles shot a 301 in the final round.
“We stumbled a little bit today but a great start to the season. It's been years since McNeese posted scores like this. We were the talk of the tournament and we are going to be a force to be reckoned with this season,” said head coach Mike Fluty.
McNeese's McKayla Anderson finished in a tie for third place in the individual standings. Anderson ended the tournament with a 218 and shot rounds of 71, 73 and 74.
Kelsey Haynie tied for seventh with a 222 (73-76-73), Lina Langergren tied for 13th place with a 226. Langergren shot rounds of 76, 69 and 81. Her 69 on Monday ties the second best McNeese individual low round. Haynie's 73's in the first and third round are her career low rounds.
Dolores Brown ended the tournament tied for 40th place with a 234 following rounds of 77, 78 and 79
“The freshmen made freshmen mistakes but the mistakes they made can be fixed. I can't be more proud of the way we played. We are looking forward to our next tournament,” said coach Fluty
