Scotland's Sally Watson (Elie and Earlsferry), Laura Murray (Alford) and Kilmacolm's Eilidh Briggs finished joint 30th as a team in a field of 53 countries at the women's world amateur team golf championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy at Gloria Golf Club, Antalya in Turkey.
The Scots lost a lot of ground on the leading teams in Thursday's first round and though they steadied up after that they never looked like getting into contention and, with a total of 593, finished behind England (jt 13th on 579, Ireland (jt 15th on 580) and Wales (23rd on 588).
South Korea retained the world title with a 13-under-par total of 563. Germany (566) were second. Finland and Australia (both 567), were joint third.
Lydia Ko, 15-year-old New Zealander of South Korea extraction, consolidated her position as the world No 1 in women's amateur golf by winning the individula title by six shotrs with a 14-under-par total of 274. She had scores of 70, 69, 67 and 68.
Sally Watson, a student at Stanford University, California, was Scotland's best individual, finishing joint 29th on 290 with scores of 77, 70, 72 and 71, which put her ahead of three members of GB and I's winning Curtis Cup team at Nairn - British amateur champion Stephanie Meadow (Ireland) on 292, Charley Hull (England) on 293 and Amy Boulden (Wales) on 307
Scottish champion Laura Murray came joint 80th on 306 with scores of 80, 76, 75 and 75.
Eilidh Briggs shot 77, 78, 77 and 77 for a share of 100th place on 307.
The highest placed British finisher was England's Emily Taylor from Hillside, Lancashire with rounds of 75, 69, 72 and 71 for a share of 18th place on 287.The next Women’s World Amateur Team Championship will be played in Karuizawa, Japan, in 2014.
