LAURA DAVIES MAKES DEBUT IN NOVEMBER ON LPGA LEGENDS TOUR

NEWS RELEASE FROM LEGENDS TOUR
BOSTON – International golf star and LPGA veteran Laura Davies of Great Britain will make her Legends Tour debut at the ISPS Handa Legends Tour Open Championship next month.
Davies will join a roster of all-time women’s golf greats scheduled to compete in the tour’s Open Championship in Palm Harbor, Fla. The event will be staged Nov. 9-11, at The Island Course at Innisbrook, a Salamander Golf & Spa Resort.
An 81-time winner worldwide with 20 LPGA victories to her credit, Davies has won at least one tournament somewhere in the world in all but one season since turning professional in 1985. Davies is a current member of the LPGA and a life member of the Ladies European Tour. The big-hitting Briton, currently in Asia with the LPGA Tour, needs one major championship or two regular LPGA Tour wins to enter the World Golf Hall of Fame.
“Laura Davies is, without question, one of the biggest draws in all of golf and her dynamic style of play will be such a welcome addition to The Legends Tour this year,” said Jane Blalock, Legends Tour President and CEO. “I’m sure she is looking forward to sharing the camaraderie and competition with many of her longtime LPGA peers and I also know that Laura will be warmly welcomed by all.”
The Legends Tour Open Championship will offer a purse of $220,000 and will feature a field of 44 Legends of the LPGA, including Nancy Lopez, Pat Bradley, JoAnne Carner, Jan Stephenson, defending champion Michele Redman and past Legends Tour Open champions Rosie Jones and Sherri Steinhauer.
Players in this year’s tournament field boast a combined 450 wins and 52 major championships on the LPGA Tour. Contestants in the event also own a combined 39 wins on The Legends Tour, the LPGA’s official tour for professionals age 45 and over.
In addition, there are eight members of the LPGA and World Golf Halls of Fame and 10 past and current Solheim Cup captains for the U.S. and European teams in the tournament field.
The Legends Tour Open Championship is a two-day, 36-hole stroke-play major championship.
