AMERICAN COLLEGE FIRES GOLF COACH FOR PROFANITY-LACED RANT TO HIS TEAM

Matt Mahanic, Huntingdon College men’s golf coach, was dismissed from his coaching duties today after a profanity-laced rant he delivered to his team was circulated around the internet. 
A recording of Mahanic addressing his golf team after it finished 11th of 12 teams at the Gordin Classic went viral on Deadspin Friday morning local time.. According to the accompanying article, the recording was made by one of Mahanic's players in the team bus.
The authorities at Huntingdon College, Montgomery in Alabama  announced Mahanic’s dismissal in a statement on its website this afternoon.
“As a member of Division III of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, we adhere to the principles expressed in the NCAA Bylaws,” said Huntingdown College President J. Cameron West. 
“To quote the Bylaws, ‘Individuals employed by or associated with a member institution to administer, conduct, or coach intercollegiate athletics shall act with ... sportsmanship at all times so that intercollegiate athletics as a whole, their institutions and they, as individuals, represent the honour and dignity of fair play and the generally recognized high standards associated with wholesome competitive sports.’”
Huntingdon is a Methodist school in Montgomery, Alabama, that competes at the Division III level.
Sam Strachan from Inverallochy in the North-east of Scotland is a student at Huntingdon.
He was a successful member of the college golf team in 2011-2012 but has a wrist problem which sees him taking a complete rest from golf during the 2012-2013 college season.
