SCOTTISH CHAMPION FORREST SLUMPS IN HAWAII GOLF

Scottish amateur champion Grant Forrest, a student at San Diego University, California, slumped from fifth to a final placing of joint 23rd in the Warrior Wave Intercollegiate 54-hole golf tournament at Makai Golf Club, Princeville Resort, Hawaii (on Wednesday US time).
Forrest, in contention after two rounds of two-under-par 70, slumped to a closing 78 which included a double bogey 7 at the long second, seven bogeys and three birdies.
His total of two-over-par 218 over the 7,223yd course, was 12 shots behind the winner, Albin Choi (North Carolina State) who scored 69-68-69 for 10-under 206.
Runner-up was Filippo Zucchetti (Baylor with 72-6-66 for 207.
Scott Gibson from Dumfries, a student at East Tennessee State, finished 12th on 215 with scores of 72, 70 and 73. It was a good effort, considering he had two double bogeys, one in the first round and one in the second.
