BETH PATERSON NOMINATED AS NEW CHAIRMAN OF SLGA
Beth Paterson, a member
of Eastwood Golf Club, has been nominated as the new Chairman of the Scottish
Ladies’ Golfing Association and one of her major tasks during the three year
term will be to progress discussions with the Scottish Golf Union on
amalgamation of the two governing bodies.
“I am looking forward
to taking up the post and I am sure there will be many challenges,” said the
single figure handicap golfer who has a wealth of experience in the ladies’
game.
“Working with the SGU
on the amalgamation will be one of the main issues.”
Paterson’s nomination
is set to be ratified at the SLGA’s Annual General Meeting in Perth next month
and she will replace Shona Malcolm, who steps down after a very successful four
years as Chairman.
Paterson started her
administration career early. At the age of 17 she served on the Committee of
her original home club of Brodick, on the Isle of Arran.
Paterson
has already served the SLGA as both Chairman of Training and Performance
Director.
Beth was Eastwood Club Captain in 2000 and Renfrewshire County
Captain in 2006 and 2007. She has contributed to the girls’ game as both her
club’s Junior Girls’ Convener for nine years and County Junior Secretary for a
three year term.
