LAUREN WHYTE HEADS FOR AUSTRALIAN YOUTH OLYMPIC FESTIVAL

 NEWS RELEASE FROM SLGA
Lauren Whyte (St Regulus), a member of the Scottish Ladies' Golfing Association’s National squad, is looking forward to competing for Team GB in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival from January 17-20.

The reigning Scottish Girls’ Champion, 2012 was a big breakthrough year for the 16-year-old as she also lined-up for Scotland in the Home Internationals.

“Australia is going to be a great experience,” said Lauren. “It is a four- round tournament, with no cut, at the Twin Creeks course on the outskirts of Sydney. There are five of us in the British girls’ team and it would be nice to come back with a medal.”

A fifth year pupil at Madras College in St Andrews, Lauren is hoping to leave school this summer and then have a gap year before heading for a golf scholarship at a US University.

Another big goal this year is to be selected to play for Europe to play against the US in the Junior Solheim Cup at Colorado in September.
