NEW LPGA TOUR EVENT IN THE BAHAMAS

The LPGA might release its 2013 schedule later in the week, but for now, here’s at least a snippet of good news: The tour is adding a new event in the Bahamas.
While not a domestic event, Nassau is a short plane ride from Florida, home base to many LPGA players.
The Pure-Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic will take place over Memorial Day weekend and will feature a purse of $1.3 million, the LPGA announced today
The four-day tournament will be held May 23-26 over the Weiskopf-designed Ocean Club Golf Course at Atlantis on Paradise Island. The event will be televised on Golf Channel. Pure Silk and the Island of the Bahamas will support the event.
“As Commissioner, there are few things more enjoyable than telling your players that they’ll be heading to the Bahamas for Memorial Day weekend at Atlantis Paradise Island,” commissioner Mike Whan said. ”To say the players are excited would be a huge understatement."
