BROGAN TOWNSND MAKES TOP 20 IN FLORIDA STATE MATCH UP

Brogan Townend from Blackburn, a freshman student at the University of Texas-San Antonio, finished T18 in a field of 64 players at the Florida State Match Up women's college tournament at Southwood Golf Club, Tallahassee.
Brogan, pictured right, had rounds of 78, 74 and 73 for a total of nine-over-par 225 over the 6,314yd, par-72 course.
She improved from T26 to her final top-20 placing thanks to her final round.
Joint winners of the tournament were Spain's Rocio Sanchez Lobato (Georgia), who was beaten by Stephanie Meadow in last year's Women's British Open amateur championship final at Carnoustie, and US Curtis Cup team member at Nairn last June, Erica Popson (Tennessee).
Lobato shot 66-74-74 for two-under 214, an aggregate matched by Popson with scores of 70-73-71.
Georgia (877) won the team title ahead of Oklahoma (881) and Tennessee (862) with Texas-San Antonio (909) eighth of the 12 teams competing.
STANFORD FRESHMAN BREAKS COURSE RECORD
AFTER OUTWARD 26
Mariah Stackhouse, a freshman at Stanford University, California, broke her home course record with a 10-under-par second round of 61 in winning the Peg Barnard Invitational by TEN shots at the weekend.
Stackhouse, pictured with the individual trophy, covered the opening nine holes in an incredible 26 strokes with two eagles, five birdies and two pars.
She had two bogeys in an inward 35 but finished with a glorious sub-par bag of two eagles and eight birdies.
Her first round was also under the par of 71, a 69 on her way to a 12-under-par total of 130.
She won by 210 strokes from Demi Runas (UC Davis) (69-71) and Regina DeGuzman (San Joe State) (72-68).
England's Charlotte Thomas (Washington) and Scotland's Sally Watson (Stanford) tied for 17th place on 149. Charlotte had scores of 79-70, Sally, a Curtis Cup player in 2008 over the Old Course, St Andrews, scored 75-74.
Stanford's head coach and assistant head coach are both Scots - Anne Walker from Strathaven and Kathryn Imrie from Dundee.
There were 73 players in the field.
Stanford scored a double whammy by winning the team title by 15 shots from California (583) with UC Davis (589) third and Washington (590) fourth of 13.
