CHARLOTTE AND HAYLEY MAKE TOP TEN IN CALIFORNIA

Charlotte Thomas, from Surrey and later Singapore, now a freshman student at the University of Washington (that's the state over on the West of America), slipped back a joint fifth overnight position to a final placing of joint ninth alongside another English-born player, Hayley Davis (Baylor University) from Dorset, in the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at Paolos Verdes Golf Club, California.Over a par-71 course of 6,017yd, Charlotte had scores of 74-70-76 for a final total of seven-over 220, the same as Hayley, pictured right, who had rounds of 72-74-74.
They finished seven shots behind the winner, Erynne Lee (UCLA) who scored 72-72-69 for 213, a shot ahead of runner-up Kelsey Vines (also UCLA) with 71, 72 and 71.
Overnight leader Alejandra Cangrejo (Duke) had a nightmare final round of 82 after two rounds of 70 had put her in the pole position with 18 holes to play. She finished T15 on 222.
Hayley Davis's Baylor team-mates, Emma Carberry from Hailsahm and Lauren Taylor from Rugby finished T13 and T18 in the field of 88 respectively.
Emma shot 76-71-74 for 221, Lauren 75-75-73 for 223.
Another English player in the field was Raphaela Dyer from Hayling Island, a student at Oregon University. Raffy fnished 84th on 251 with scores of 85-83-83.
UCLA (870) won the team event ahead of Southern California (879), Duke (881), Texas (890), Florida (892) and sixth-placed Baylor (898) in a field of 16 teams.
DOLORES HELPS McNEESE STATE WIN TEAM TITLE
Dolores Brown from Kent, a freshman student at McNeese State University, Lake Charles, Louisian, finished 28th in a field of 65 for The Lumberjack at Ocotillo collegiate tournament over 54 holes at Ocotillo Golf Club, Chandler in Arizona.
Over a par-72 course of 6,307yd, Dolores (pictured right) scored 86-82-78 for 246.
She finished 21 shots behind the winner by two, Kelsey Chugg (Weber State) (75-76-70).
But Dolores did have cause for celebration at the conclusion - McNeese State (914) won the team title by a handsome margin of 27 shots from runners-up Northern Arizona (941) with Weber State (949) third of 11 teams.
