DANIEL YOUNG FROM PERTH SCORES THIRD WIN IN AMERICA
Daniel Young from Perth, in his fourth and final year at Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida, has scored his third win on the US college circuit in the Saint Leo Invitational at Lake Jovita Golf Club, Saint Leo, Florida.
Young (pictured) shot rounds of 69, 74 and 73 over a 7,141yd, par 72 course for a level par aggregate of 216.
He won by one shot from John Frisby (Belmont Abbey College) who had scores of 73-71-73 for 217.
Daniel's effort also helped Lynn University win the team event by 21 shots from joint runners-up Belmont Abbey and Saint Leo.
Adam Hedges from Bromley, a senior year student at Belmont Abbey College, North Carolina finished T11 on 299 with scores of 74, 75 and 80.
Dundee-born Matthew Reid, also a student at Belmont Abbey College, finished joint 16th on 231 with scores of 77, 78 and 76.
James Swan from London and Nova Southeastern University finished 18th in the field of 28 players. He had rounds of 75, 82 and 75 for 232.
SCOTT GIBSON DOWN THE FIELD IN FLORIDA
Scott Gibson (pictured) from Dumfries, a student at East Tennessee State, finished T44 in a field of 75 players at the SeaBest Inviational over The Players' Stadiumc course at Ponte Vedra, Florida.
Over a course of 6,977yd (par 72), Scott did not find his form until the third and final round when he matched the par of 72. Earlier, he had rounds of 80 and 81, so his 54-hole total was 233 - 22 shots behind tournament winner Rick Lamb (Tennessee) (70-65-76).
Lamb won by six shots from Greg Yates (Texas A and M) who totalled 217 (72-75-70).
Gibson's team-mates Garth McGee and Walker Cup Welshman Rhys Pugh finished T34 (73-80-78 for 231) and T51 (82-78-75 for 235) respectively.
Tom Wilde from Buckinghamshire, a student at Old Dominion University, came joint 46th with three scores of 78 for 234.
Tennessee (879) won the team title from Texas A and M (883) with Coastal Carolina (898) third.
