US COLLEGE UPDATE
FROM JOHN DRYBURGH
They say golf is a game of inches and for Gemma Dryburgh that seems to be true.
She has always had shafts which were around one inch short. Having been fitted for new clubs in December, the club fitter decided she didn't need to shorten the shafts.
However, after some inconsistent performances since, culminating in the 81 at the UCF tournament earlier this month ( a tournament she was runner-up in last year) which resulted in her losing her top 100 slot for the first time this season, she and her  coaches decided that the club fitter was wrong and she decided to pull out her old sticks.
The results were immediate and have helped her to her lowest collegiate score on the first day (Sunday) at her home tournament, the Allstate Sugar Bowl at English Turn, New Orleans.
In blustery conditions, Gemma shot a four-under-par 68 to sit equal second level with Stephanie Meadow and one behind Finnish team-mate Emily Penttila.
Tulane currently sit atop the team leaderboard with a record-equalling team score of six under par.
