Colin@scottishgolfview.com Scottish amateur champion Grant Forrest, a second-year student at San Diego University, from North Berwick finished just outside the top 10 in a field of 69 players at The Farms Collegiate Invite, California, his first competition of 2013.Forrest, pictured left, had rounds of 76, 74 and 73 or a seven-over-par total of 223 over the The Farms Golf Club's par-72, 6,880yd course at Rancho Santa Fe, California this week.He finished joint 11th, eight shots behind the winner, Emilio Cuartero (Missouri University) who had rounds of 71, 73 and 71 for one-under 215.San Diego (897) finished fourth of 12 in the team event won by Pacific (872).
YOUNG MAKES TOP 20 IN FLORIDA
Daniel Young from Perth and Jordan McColl from Dundee finished joint 14th and joint 25th respectively a field of 75 players at the Matlock Collegiate Classic at Lone Palm Golf Club, Lakeland in Florida.Young, pictured right, a student at Lynn University, Boca Raton, Florida, shot 77-67-74 for a two-over-par total of 218 over the par-72 course of 7,090yd.
McColl, pictured left, a student at Lander University, South Carolina, scored 73-77-71 for 221.
Individual winner by nine shots was Tim Crouch (Florida Southern) with scores of 64-68-68 for 16-under 200.Lynn University (865) finished third behind Barry University (838) in a field of 15 teams.
TEXAS DEBUT FOR LAWRENCE ALLAN
Scottish boys international Lawrence Allan from Alva, who enrolled at Southeastern Louisiana University in early January, finished joint 62nd in a field of 84 players at his debut in US college golf at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational in Texas. Over the Oak Hills Country Club's par-71 course of 6,765yd, Allan (pictured right) shot 76-78-77 for a total of 231 - 25 shots behind the winner, Kyle Jones (Baylor University) who had scores of 69, 70 and 67 for seven-under 206.
Southeastern Louisiana team-mate Charlie Sault from Birmingham finished T69 with scores of 78, 78 and 79 for 235.Southeastern Louisiana (882) finished seventh of 14 behind team title winners Oklahoma (862).
North Texs (863) were second and Baylor (869) third.
O'DELL TIES FOR FIFTH AT DAVENPORT
Connor O'Dell, one of four Webber International University, Florida recruits from England, finished joint fifth in a field of 50 players at the Southeastern Fire Invitational college tournament at Providence Golf Club, Davenport, Florida.
Over a par-72 course of 6,929yd, Connor, pictured left, a final-year student from Taunton, Somerset, shot 74-73 for a three-over-par total of 147 - five shots behind the winner by three, Isaac Spencer (Southeastern) who had scores 72 and 70 for two-under 143.
Matt Basey, a Webber International freshman from Bristol, finished ninth on 148 with scores of 71-77.
Team-mates Greg Hughes from Surrey and Bryan Rutherford from Sevenoaks, Kent finished T19 and T25 respectively.
Hughes scored 74-77 for 151, Rutherford 75-78 for 153.
Taylor Sergeant from Northants, a freshman at Savannah College, finished T38 on 157 with scores of 72-85.
