KEVIN IS PHELAN FINE AFTER FIRST WIN ON US COLLEGE CIRCUIT

Irishman Kevin Phelan from Waterford, a senior year student at North Florida University, scored his first win on the US men's college golf circuit in the John Hayt Collegiate Invitational at Sawgrass Country Club, Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida on Tuesday.
Phelan, who flew to Scotland from America to take part in the Walker Cup selection trials at Royal Aberdeen in 2011, shot record-breaking rounds of 10-under-par 64 and 67 for a total of 13-under-par 131.
The 64 was a course record and the 131 aggregate a record 36-hole low for the tournament which was cut to two rounds after heavy rain on Monday night made the course too wet for play.
Phelan headed a field of 87 playeres by four shots from North Florida team-mate Sean Dale who scored 68-67 for 135
Another Irishman, Paul Dunne (University of Alabama-Birmingham) from Greystokes finished T20 with rounds of 70-76 for 146.
North Florida (559) also won the team title ahead of Duke (571) and Central Florida (585),
Alabama-Birmingham (592) finished joint 11th of the 15 teams competing.
