Former British women's open amateur champion - the youngest ever - Lauren Taylor from Rugby and Emma Carberry from Hailsham, both students at Baylor University, Texas, produced splendid performances to help win the team title in Hurricane Invitational women's college tournament at Deering Bay Yacht and Country Club, Miami, Florida.
Over a par-71 course of 6,007 yd. freshman Lauren finished third with rounds of 72, 72 and 71 for 215, a shot ahead of Emma who scored 76, 67 and 73 for 216 and fourth place in a field of 90 players.
Baylor (883) won the team title from Texas State (887) with Miami (898) third and Oklahoma State (904) fourth in a big field of 16 teams.
It was Baylor's first team victory of the 2012-2013 season after finishing runner-up in their last two events before the mid-season break.
Individual winner Kelsey Vines (Oklahoma State) scored 70-68-71 for four-under 209. She finished four shots ahead of runner-up Krista Puisite (Texas State) (71-70-72).
Former English champion Hayley Davis from Devon, also a Baylor student, was in contention after first and second rounds of 73-71 but she plummeted to joint 27th place from joint sixth due to a final round of 86, a most uncharacteristic, 15-over-par dispaly from Hayley.
