PAULA CREAMER SHOOTS COURSE RECORD TO WIN BY 11 SHOTS

LPGA Tour and Solheim Cup star Paula Creamer - "The Pink Panther" of ladies pro golf - really did stoop to conquer this week, and no disrespect is meant to Florida's SunCoast Ladies Tour by saying that.
Paula is a Big League player but she thought it was worth the trip from her home at Pleasanton, California right across from coast to coast to Florida to get in a few competitive rounds.
She led from wire to wire, shooting a course-record seven-under-par 65 in her final round (when she was dressed in her trade mark pink ensemble) at Orange Tree Country Club near Orlando to win by 11 strokes over 54 holes with an 11-under-par total of 205.
Her cash prize was $2,100 which is probably small change to her.
There are those who might say that Paula should not be playing at this level and depriving more needy lady pros of earnings.
I don't agree at all. As co-organiser of the soon-to-start Paul Lawrie Scottish Ladies Tour, I would be doing backflips and handstands if somebody like Catriona Matthew or Laura Davies said they wanted to play in one of our tournaments.
Come to think of it, the PLGC SLOT has two one-round competitions at the start of the same August week that sees the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open tee off on the Friday ... you never know, we might see the Big Guns up at Fairmont St Andrews and The Duke's with us!
Incidentally, Paula Creamer had played twice before on the SunCoast Ladies Tour - and she also won then as well. So three out of three is not bad going. Class will tell.
