HOW THE BRITS HAVE FARED IN US COLLEGE TOURNAMENTS


RACHAEL WATTON'S TOP 10 FINISH IN FLORIDA

Scotland international Rachael Watton from Edinburgh, a student at Denver University, achieved a top-10 finish in the Central District Invitational women's college tournament over 54 holes of the par-72, 6218yd course at River Wilderness Country Club, Parrish in Florida this week.
Rachael had rounds of 74, 75 and 72 for a five-over-par total of 221 and joint seventh place in a field of 65 players. 
Former British girls open champion Alexandra Bonetti from France, now a student at Texas Christian, finished T9 on 222 (72-77-73).
Two players tied for individual honours - Caroline Powers (Michigan State (71-72-72) and Natalie Wille (Augusta State (72-71-72), both on one-under 215, four shots ahead of the field.
Southern Methodist (888) won he team title ahead of Vanderbilt (890) with Michigan State (895) third and Denver (896) fourth of 12 teams.   

McQUEEN  jt 13th IN BIG LOUISIANA FIELD


Rachael McQueen (Troon Ladies), pictured left, a student at McLennan College, Waco in Texas, finished T13 on 236 (79-76-81) in a field of 88 players at Le Triomphe College Invitational at Le Triomphe Country Club, Broussard, Louisiana.
Dolores Brown from Kent, a freshman at McNeese State University Lake Charles in Louisiana. finished T26 on 242 (77-83-82).
Winner was Ghni Ngo - a student at Lamar University - with rounds of 74-80-72 for a total of 226 over the par-72, 6226yd course. She won by two shots.
Lamar (930) also won the team title ahead of Xavier (943) with McNeese State (950) third of 16 teams. 

JAMIE CHAPMAN MAKES TOP TEN 

Jamie Chapman from Sussex finished joint sixth and Gavin Hay from Glasgow joint 12th in a field of 88 players at the Lincoln Memorial University Spring Intercollegiate men's tournament at Fleming Island Golf Club, near Jacksonville, Florida.
Chapman, pictured right, a student at the host college had rounds of 73 and 70 for 143, finished three shots behind the winner by one, Conner Godsey (Montevallo) (71-69) for 140 over a par-71 course of 6,688yd.
Hay, a senior year student at Carson-Newman University, shot 76-69 for 145.
Georgia Southern (571) won the team title from Kings College (584) with Central Oklahoma, Lincoln Memorial and Saint Leo tied third on 586. Carson-Newman (604) finished eighth in a field of 17 teams. 

SCOTS DOWN FIELD AT HILTON HEAD   

South Carolina-Aiken's Scottish students Mark Dickson, a senior from Edinburgh, and Kyle Godsman, a junior from Hopeman, Morayshire, finished T61 and T70 respectively in a field of 90 players at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate at Wexford Plantation Country Club, Hilton Head, South Carolina.
Dickson, pictured left, scored 78-78-81 for 237 over the par-72, 6913yd course.
Godsman shot 83-78-78 for 238.
Winner by two shots with a four-under total of 212 was Trey Valentine (South Florida) (69-73-70).
Georgia Southern (879) won the team title with Francis Marion (887) runners-up. South Carolina-Aiken (912) finished ninth of 18.    

PUGH T39 in PUERTO RICO CLASSIC

Walker Cup Welshman Rhys Pugh, a student at East Tennessee State University, finished T39 in a field of 75 players at the Puerto Rico Classic men's college tournament over the Rio Mar Country Club, Rio Grande.
Pugh, pictured right, shot 75-73-73 for a total of 221 over a par-72 course of 6,902yd. He finished 17 shots behind the winner by two, Albin Choi (North Carolina State) (70-69-65 for 12-under 204).
Another East Tennessee State student, Scott Gibson, a sophomore from Dumfries, finished T55 on 226. After an indifferent first round of 82, Gibson got his game together to shoot 73-71 for the remaining rounds.
Alabama (831) won the team title from Oklahoma (838) with Southern Methodist (848) third. East Tennessee State (883) came 11th of 15 teams. 

RUTHERFORD THIRD AT LAKE WALES

 
Bryan Rutherford, a junior year student from Sevenoaks, Ken, finished the highest of the seven British students at Webber International Univesity, Florida in action at the Start2Go college tournament at Lake Wales Country Club, Florida.
Bryan, pictured left, had rounds of 80-73-72 for 225 over a par-71 course, finishing third in a field of 34 players.
Kristofer Karlsson (Embry-Riddle University) won with scores of 73-72-73 for 222 - a shot ahead of a Swedish student at Webber International, Gustaf Hydblom (76-71-76 for 223).  
Connor O'Dell, a senior year student from Taunton, shot 77-77-71 for 231 and a T9 finish.
Greg Hughes, a senior from Surrey, finished T12 on 232 (82-72-78).
James Holt, a freshman from Manchester, came T19 on 234 (81-83-70).
Matt Basey, a freshman from Bristol, finished 24th on 238 (77-81-80)
Jack Robinson, a freshman from London, finished 27th on 242 (84-75-83).
Stuart Winsby, a freshman from Northern Ireland, finished T28 on 245 (82-82-81).
Webber International (909) pipped Embry-Riddle (910) for the team title in a field of only four teams.
