SUN CITY WEST, ARIZONA
 –
Minnesota resident Michele Redman wasn’t phased by today’s

chilly 52-degree  temperatures and howling winds in otherwise sunny

Arizona. In fact,  Redman got hot and fired a 4-under 68 in the final

round to win the

Walgreens Charity Classic by two shots.

The two-time LPGA Tour winner carded rounds of 71-68 for a

36-hole total of 5-under 139 at Grandview Golf Course. She recorded

two birdies on the front and two birdies on the back nine of her

bogey-free round for her second Legends Tour win.

“The conditions were really tough, but it was fun to challenge myself

out there today,” said Redman, who earned $30,000 for the victory in

the $225,000 event. “I’ve always liked playing in the wind and when

you are striking the ball well, that’s when you want to play -- when

it’s windy.”

With 40-mph winds sometimes blowing leaders out of contention, Redman stayed aggressive, making her last birdie on the 18th hole.

The current University of Minnesota women’s golf coach laced a

perfect final drive to set up a 49-yard chip to the flagstick. She

cozied the chip to within five feet and drained the birdie putt.

“It was a fun day and I love being out here with the same women I

played with on the LPGA Tour,” said Redman, who has posted

top-10 finishes in all five Legends Tour events she has played.

Canada’s Lorie Kane finished second, posting rounds of 72-69 to

finish at 3-under 141.
