FROM THE NORTH TEXAS UNIVERSITY WEBSITE

HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Arkansas –True freshman Georgina Mundy became the first freshman to win an individual title for North Texas University since 2001 as she captured the UALR Women’s Golf Classic earlier this week at Diamante Country Club, Hot Springs in Arkanasa
Mundy, pictured, a first-year student from Southampton, won the event at the head of a field of 83 players with a three-round score of 6-over par 222 over a par-72 course of 6,054yd
Editor's Note: The scoring was high, which suggests they caught the end of the bad weather that hit parts of the States last weekend and carried over.
Mundy ran away from the field, winning by five strokes over the nearest competition as she is the first individual winner for the North Texas women’s golf team since Kelsey Kipp won the Rose City Invitational in 2010.
Mundy shot a final round of 3-over par 75 in the final round as she was the only player in the entire field to shoot 75 or under in all three rounds. She is just the third freshman in school history to win an individual title and the first since Laura Rakel captured the Lady Eagle Invitational in 2001.
There were two other English-born players in the top five.
Nikki Dunn from Harrogate, a transfer to Texas A and M, finished
fourth on 230 with scores of 78, 76 and 76.
Emma Clegg (Missouri State), a senior year student from Blackburn, finished joint fifth on 231 with scores of 74, 78 and 79.
Just inside the top 20 was Northern Ireland's Megan Thompson, a sophomore student from Ballyclare at Missouri State. She hit the 238 mark with scores of 78,80 and 80 for a share of 18th place.
Just outside the top was Vale of Glamorgan's senior student at Arkansas State, Anna Carling with 80-84-76 for 240 and a joint 23rd place finish.
Katie Reid (Arkansas-Little Rock), a junior student, from Elmwood College, Cupar and Dundee, finished T74 on 270 with scores of 91-91-88.
Abigail Laker (Arkansas State), a freshman from Oxfordshire, "did not finish" after rounds of 79 and 86.
Sam Houston State captured the team title, beating Middle Tennessee by one stroke. North Texas finished T7 (with Missouri State) on 962 which means that Georgina Mundy's team-mates did not give her close support. She could be the Lone Star of (North) Texas?
Arkansas-Little Rock finished fifth.

is back in action on April 5-7 as they play in the SMU Invitational.
