INDEPENDENT SCHOOL TEAM TAKE TITLE AT UNI OF EXETER INVITATIONAL

AND THE WINNERS WERE ... THE ISGA TEAM

NEWS RELEASE
The University of Exeter Links Trophy Invitational college tournament featured the top teams from Universities across the UK and Ireland. The inaugural event was hosted by Trevose Golf and Country Club from March 2 to 4.

The ISGA (Independent Schools Golf Association) team surprised the University teams by winning the team event with a total of 443. The ISGA team featured (pictured from left to right) Calum Hill from Merchiston, Jack Sallis from Wellington College and Jack Singh-Brar from Hampshire Collegiate

University of Stirling’s Cormac Sharvin captured the Individual Trophy after three days of competitive action with a final round 75.
Sharvin led by four shots going into the final day after rounds of 71 and 72.
In the chasing pack were Gary Hurley, a full Irish international, and Jack Singh-Brar, an England U18 Squad member. Along with Cornwall county player, Matt Richards, the title could have gone anyway with nine holes to play.
Sharvin, however, produced a back nine of two under par, 34, in tough 25mph winds on exceptionally quick greens to wrestle the title from Gary Hurley by one shot with a 218 total. Matt Richards finished one shot further back on 220. Calum Hill  (ISGA) lead the field after day 1, but had a 78 on Day 2.
He finished fourth overall which was a great result as he passed many lower handicap players helping his team mates to win the Trophy.
