IRISH DOUBLE WHAMMY IN CORNWALL COLLEGE GOLF

Stirling University student Cormac Sharvin, a member of Ardglass Golf Club, Ireland, won the individual title in the inaugural University of Exeter Links Trophy 54-hole college golf tournament at Trevose Golf and Country Club, Padstow in Cornwall today. 

Sharvin, pictured left, had rounds of 71, 72 and 75 for a two-over-par total of 218.
 He won by a single shot from another Irishman, the strong-finishing Gary Hurley (NUI Maynooth) who shot 76-72-71 for 219.
Matthew Richards of Cornwall was third on 220 (71-77-72). 
The young Scot who was the first-round leader, Calum Hill (Independent Schools), a pupil at Merchiston School, Edinburgh and a member at Tantallon Castle GC, finished a creditable fourth on 222 with scores of 70, 78, 74.
 Ireland scored a double whammy in the individual events with Sinead Sexton (NUI Maynooth) winning the women's title with scores of 78, 79 and 78 for a total of 235.
 She came through to win over the final round, finishing a shot ahead of overnight leader Gemma Bradbury, a Welsh international player and a St Andrews University student. Gemma scored 79-78-79 for 236.
 The only other female competitor was Katie Bradbury, an Exeter student who is Gemma Bradbury's younger sister. 
Katie shot 74-79-86 for 239. 
Independent Schools (Calum Hill, Jack Singh Brar and Jack Salis) won the team title with a total of 443 - two shots ahead of Stirling 2 with Cornwall (449) third and NUI Maynooth (449) fourth.LEADING INDIVIDUAL TOTALS
