SEB CROOKALL-NIXON FIFTH AT STANFORD INTERCOLLEGIATE
Josh Jamieson from St Andrews, the 2011 Scottish boys' stroke-play champion and now a freshman student at Northwestern University, Chicago, finished joint 49th in a field of 96 players at the Stanford University Intercollegiate tournament at Stanford Golf Club, California on Saturday.
Jamieson, pictured right, had rounds of 70, 74 and 72 for a total of six-over-par 216 over a par-70 course of 6,742yd.
He finished 17 shots behind the winner by three, Paul Barjon (Texas Christian) with 66-66-67 for 11-under 199.
The best British performance in the event came from Seb Crookall-Nixon, twice past England U16 boys champion from Cockermouth, Cumbria.
Seb, pictured left, now a freshman student at San Francisco University, finished fifth with scores of 66, 72 and 69 for three-under--par 207.
In joint 25th place on 212 came David Boote, a freshman from Epsom at Stanford, with scores of 68-698-75 and Tom Berry (San Diego State), a junior student from Surrey) with 72-71-69.
Stanford won the title on home turf by six shots from Texas Christian.
Northwestern finished seventh and San Diego State 13th in a field of 17 team.
