SPRAGGS AND BRAIN TAKE STUDENTS' INDIVIDUAL TITLES AT DUNDONALD LINKS

Stirling University dominated the men's events but St Andrews' students took the honours in the women's section at the British Universities and Colleges Students Golf Tour competition at Dundonald Links, Ayrshire this week.

Englishman Patrick Spraggs, pictured right,  a +2 player, led a St Andrews 1-2-3 in the men's returns, scoring 75, 69 and 76 for a total of 220.
Runners-up was Irish team-mate Cormac Sharvin, also a +2 player, with 74-71-76 for 221.
Scot Alexander Culverwell, a third +2 rated player, completed a Stirling clean sweep of the top men's individual totals with rounds of 75, 75 and 76 for 226.
Stirling 1 (Sharvin, Culverwell, Craig Howie and Kit Holmes) won the men's team event with a total of 448, only one shot ahead of the Stirling 2 team (Spraggs, Oliver Roberts, Angus Carrick and Joao Malaguiera).

Scratch player Miranda Brain (St Andrews) won the women's individual title with scores of 80, 85 and 83 for 248.
Miranda, pictured left, finished two shots ahead of team-mate, Gabrielle MacDonald, a +1 player, who had scores of 86, 83 and 81 for 250.
Liverpool's Elizabeth Stebbings, a +1 player, finished third with ever-improving scores of 90, 87 and76 for 253.
St Andrews (Brain, MacDonald and Francisca Benze) won the women's team title.
