STIRLING STUDENTS SET THE PACE AT LOSSIEMOUTH

Stirling University students lead both the men's and women's sections of the Scottish student golf championships after the first round on a sunny but chilly day at Moray Golf Club, Lossiemouth/
Swiss international Matthias Eggenberger, who has a handicap of +3, set the men's pace with an excellent round over four-under-par 66 over the New Course. 
He leads the field and Stirling team-mates, Kit Holmes, Mike Howard and Zander Culverwell by five shots.
A further shot behind come Michael Manson (Strathclyde), Jamie Pryde (Robert Gordon), Freddie Edmunds (St Andrews) and Jack MacDonald (Stirling).

On Moray Old, Georgina Gilling (Stirling) matched the testing women's par of 76 to lead from three St Andrews students - Iona Stephen (78), Welsh international Gemma Bradbury (80) and Gabrielle MacDonald (80). 
Both sets of players face another 18 holes on Monday before completing the stroke-play competition with 36 holes on Tuesday.
